You are right. But the government relies on the fact that the public has no LT memory.

I also know that many love to quote Carl Sagan (who left this mortal coil under a large legal and financial cloud).

Remember when Sagan was saying with certitude that if the Kuwaiti oil fields were torched:

1) the smoke would cause the same effect as "nuclear winter" with devastating effects

2) the fields would not be able to be put out

Well, Wrong! and Wrong!

I remember that late Dixie Lee Ray (who authored several books about junk science put out by the so-called "greens", i.e., socialists) said that Sagan was wrong before it became apparent to everyone because Sagan didn't understand how the Earth's atmosphere works. That of course, never stopped the Media from reporting Sagan as "the authority". And they never felt compelled to expose his poor record.

Dr. Ray stated that the fires in Kuwait would not affect the climate because the smoke was not thrust into the upper atmosphere. Dr. Ray did predict and was correct that the June 12 1991 explosion of Pinatubo volcano would result in measurable global cooling for years because of the small particulates thrown into the upper atmosphere and their filtering effect.

Here are a couple of her books:

Trashing the Planet : How Science Can Help Us Deal With
Acid Rain, Depletion of the Ozone, and Nuclear Waste
(Among Other Things)

"Synopsis
For educators, public officials, scientists, and common citizens, this extensively
hailed national bestseller provides an invaluable and sensible approach for
understanding and saving the environment. A remarkable and illuminating book
for everyone concerned about conservation and ecology. "

It's about time someone spoke the truth about what really motivates the
environmental movement: money. It has nothing to do with any real danger to
plants, animals, the earth, or the human race. The lies Ray exposes are
atrocious, and the truth is so poignant that one can't help but be astonished that
anyone actually believes we are in any danger. The evidence provided here goes
to show how little people mean to the environmental whackos who perpetuate
this arrogant, anti-human campaign of scare tactics and other subterfuge.
Anyone who is scared of losing this planet can rest assured after reading this
book.

Environmental Overkill : Whatever Happened to Common
Sense?

"Synopsis
The author of Trashing the Planet and media commentator Guzzo offer a
straightforward analysis that helps readers understand the scientific and political
realities of environmental issues and make their own informed decisions about
global warming, pollution, endangered species, and other environmental issues."

"Booknews, Inc. , 08/01/93
In this sequel to Trashing the Planet, the authors continue their argument that
without the foundation of scientific evidence, many of the actions of our society
in the name of protecting the environment are unjustified and harmful.

Dixy Lee Ray, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and
Governor of Washington State was one of the clearest thinking individuals of
our time. Simply put, current environmental policy is without scientific
foundation. Half baked therories predicting impending ice ages, global warming, and spotted owl extinctions are examined without the leftist propaganda that
passes for critical thought in our day.

In this stunning expos‚ of the truth behind the frightening headlines
of ecological disaster, Dixie Lee Ray illustrates how good
stewardship of the environment, scientific honesty, and even our
constitutional liberties based on property rights are being
consciously endangered by environmental extremists,
scare-mongering journalists, media-conscious scientists, "visionary"
politicians, power-hungry bureaucrats,
regulate-to-defeat-the-competition big business leaders, and
rapacious lawyers.
ENVIRONMENTAL OVERKILL tells you what actually happened at the Earth Summit, provides you with a close look at the environmentalism of Vice President Al Gore, and it will help you make your own informed decisions on air pollution, global warming, endangered species, wetlands, overpopulation, and other contentious environmental issues.

Another good book by other authors
Global Warming : The Truth Behind the Myth

"Booknews, Inc. , 12/01/95
There is no cause for alarm, return to your assigned duties. Parsons, an
academic in health science who spent four years working at Los Alamos
National Laboratory and five years in aerospace research and development,
discusses the relationship between global climate and the greenhouse effect. He
points out flaws in computer models used to predict climate change, offers
insights into the views of the models' creators, and looks at other factors
involved in climate change, such as El Nino, ocean currents, and pollution. For
general readers. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or. "

Annotated factual information supplied by Parsons &
Singer provide a refreshing new look into one of the Three Grandest Hoaxes of
the Second Millenium.

The reader discovers a new view of the environment and its enormous capacity
to effect human activity. Verified easily by the astute reader, humanity is aptly
presented as having little impact on climate.

Five cheers! Hopefully we will see more constructive critism of pseudo-science
from the Politico-Media-Complex.

Michael Parsons' views on global warming are extraordinary.
Michael Parsons looks at the theory of global warming with the most intelligent
insight I have seen in any of the literature on the subject. He uses hard core
science to debunk the theory and leaves its supporters gasping for air. Unlike
some who have come out against global warming, Parsons does not attack it
from an anti-environmental perspective. Instead, he addresses the issue with
thought-provoking arguments based upon research and investigation into the
true science behind the theory. I wish we had more scientists like Mr. Parsons
working in our country today!
