To all:

The following is from semichips.org

Here are key highlights of the 1996-1999 forecast:

* One of the industry's hottest products, microprocessor chips that provide the brains for computers, continues to generate revenues at a blistering pace. Microprocessor sales increased 29.9 percent in 1995 to $14.2 billion. Sales will expand 17.5 percent in 1996 to $16.7 billion, then grow 22.9 percent in 1997 to $20.6 billion. In 1998, sales will reach $24.8 billion on the strength of a 20.2 percent increase.

In 1999, microprocessor sales will surge another 21.1 percent to $30.0 billion --- more than double the $14.2 billion in sales racked up in 1995. By 1999, microprocessors will also represent 15 percent of the global chip market, compared to 10 percent today.
