SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- "Here's why shares of Internet search engines and channel guides with little in the way of profits "have legs," as they say on Wall Street.

America Online (AOL), satisfied with the explosive growth of its network, rebuffed a takeover offer from AT&T (T), London's Financial Times reports Wednesday. The telecommunications giant was prepared to pay "comfortably above" AOL"s $19 billion market capitalization.

The report comes amid speculation that Walt Disney Co. (DIS) or Time-Warner (TWX) will take as much as a 50 percent stake in California search engine Infoseek (SEEK), which will hold its annual meeting this week. Infoseek won't comment about that StockWatch report. Neither will AT&T..."
