<<Rubin tells CBS no quick Asia turnaround in sight

NEW YORK, June 19 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin said the turnaround in Asia ''is not going to be easy,'' according to a press release issued by CBS News.

Rubin made the remarks in an interview with the network to be aired on Sunday, June 21, on CBS News Sunday Morning.

''I don't think it's going to repair itself quickly,'' Rubin said of the economic situation in many Asian countries. ''It's going to take real time and it's not going to be easy...(turnarounds take much longer than people think) because you're dealing with such - such fundamental issues in each of these economies and you're dealing with
rebuilding confidence and the difficulty is compounded by the fact that it's happening in more than one country at the same time,'' Rubin told CBS.>>

And, if one thinks about it, the Chinese must be in not too good a shape, if they pressed for intervention.
