Richard: Do you or any of the "informed biotech investors" here have any comment about Procept and LXR?
Both PRCT and LXR are v short on cash, and their stocks are low, but in light of the current Newsweek feature article on Aids research these two companies seem to have different research approaches that appear novel but never (as yet) seem to get any publicity.
Procept's approach is to focus on the Immune cells receptors rather than the virus so to avoid the problem of the virus mutating ( as with Protease inhibitors see Newsweek), and LXR while focusing on Apoptosis see page 5 of the last LXR annual report "Leading scientists including Luc Montagnier of the Pasteur Institute, generally regarded as the discoverer of the AIDS virus and a member of LXR's scientific advisory Board, now believe that apoptosis may be the principal cause of death of T cells in AIDS patients, leading to the ultimate suppression of the patients immune system."
Apologies for bringing this subject up here but I welcome any informed comments directly ( or here if it is otherwise dormant) - my scientific training is close to zero I just read - and have invested in both PRCT and LXR in spite of the lack of publicity given both. I guess I am waiting for Newsweek et al to pay some attention! Is it worth the wait? Any opinion?
