Well, maybe it's just late on a Friday but Malcom Dent's comments put a dent in my mood. I've been a tasseled loafer basher from way back, but let's face it: not good to have a bunch of those guys honked off at you. Further, the Q has shown great top line growth but that's other line has been, shall we say, erratic. It is not surprising that the institutional community is in a show me the money mood. Last, the Q's manufacturing prowess is looking a might iffy. Toss all of the above in the hopper, add one big dollop of Asian meltdown, and you've got a Q price that makes all of our acquisition posts seem not quite so nutty.
If this Dent guy is right that NT ain't interested, I'm bummed cuz in my black little heart of hearts I figured that would be a neat fit. That leaves NOK.A, LU, and CSCO with Ma Bell a distinct long shot. With all the consolidation going on in the telecom business, I just don't see how the Mighty Q can stay independent unless they pull some major rabbits out real pronto. Agree with Caxton that Ericy just won't happen: the culture clash is almost as bad as me trying to fit in with all the guys here at M.I.T.
Some dude comes in with a $75/sh offer, they'll steal the damn thing. Sorry for the down post guys: I ain't selling, but there sure don't seem to be too many positive news items emanating from the San Diego titans these days. Surfer Mike
