Clark D. French Joins Progress SoftwareCorporation as Head of Database Product Unit

Former Sybase Director to Head Newly Defined Product Unit
Progress Software Corporation PRGS , a leading supplier of application development tools, database technology and support services for business applications, today announced that Clark D. French has joined the company as Director and General Manager, Database Product Unit. In this role, French will be responsible for overseeing the database development team, as well as the delivery and support of the PROGRESS(R) database and WebSpeed(tm) products. French will report directly to Rick Reidy, vice president, product development.

French has over 17 years experience in software and data warehousing. Most recently, he held the position of director, product development for Sybase's IQ product, where he served as both chief architect and technical visionary. Prior to joining Sybase, French successfully started two software companies, Expressway Technologies, which was acquired by Sybase in 1994, and Kopcke and Associates, acquired by Pilot Software. French earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire.
