Gustave, a much fairer comparison would've been between ODI's current growth rate and Oracle's (or Sybase's, or Informix's for that matter) when it was ODI's size.

If ODI's numbers were anywhere near the comparable numbers for the RDBMS "Dinosaurs", we would all be much happier.

This would actually be a very fair comparison, because just as Object technology has to fight the established relational mindset, Relational technology, which was very new and "risky" at the time, had to overcome the inertia of the Network and Hierarchical database world. Asia and the Y2K issue are legitimate hurdles that ODI has and the relational gang didn't. But I'm not willing to let ODI off the hook over that.

Good technology that improves the bottom line of the purchaser can be sold in any environment if sales and marketing are up to the task.
