Crazy me, I would probably want to enforce no-smoking areas in restaurants too.
RAY, you seem to be directing your hatred of government at me. Please stop it. The point is, if every stock promoter and newsletter flogger were given a thread on Silicon Investor, then I would have difficulty wading through all the advertising to get to some real discussion of stocks.
Vivek doesn't share any of his reasoning, just pitches stocks based on some untold computer modelling, sort of like a terse grunting come-on.
If Vivek would like to engage in any manner of stock banter like regular visitors to SI do on its many threads, I would be more than happy. I just don't appreciate every second posting on some threads being some stock promoter hyping their stock or service. I would hope such people are dealt with in the manner they deserve.
Maybe you haven't had my experience...I administer some academic and other group listservers on the net...at first in the spirit of openness anyone was allowed to subscribe. But now I have had to have all the subscriptions go through me because every other day some guy named "Chucky@sellyoustuff.com" subscribes, lies in wait a day or two, and then cleverly works his sales pitch into the conversation, thus spamming my group, thus pissing them off. They don't appreciate it.
If Vivek wants to advertise, maybe he should find other means, and pay for it. I can't stop him from flogging his service. But the Webmaster can and I sincerely hope he will. |
