What is your take on Inprise lately... Personally, I think Delphi will continue as a niche product with no hope of knocking out Visual Basic. Visual Basic has become something of a standard and the reference materials, training materials, tools, components and availability of skilled developers in that environment will be hard to knock off. This is another example of foolishness on the part of Microsoft's competitors. Netscape Navigator should have been given away for free from day one. How long did AOL go before it made any money? Was Netscape really so thick in the head as to not know how valuable a 99% share of the browser market would have been? Yeah, they were. The same goes for Delphi. They should have spammed the industry with it and now it's too late. It's called investing in the future and thinking ahead. Microsoft gets this mind bogglingly simple concept whereas most brain dead CEOs are only looking at the next quarter. Borland should dump Pascal and use native Java or C++ syntax. On the services front, good luck getting qualified staff to launch a service operation in this labor environment. They are going to have to buy and they are going to have to pay, big time, for a ready-made pool of skilled programmers and analysts. That translates to more dilution and I don't want to pay their acquisition bills for them. Sorry, I'll be around after it tanks on the AQ news, what's the rush?
