To all, MSNBC article on SGI and the entertainment industry:

msnbc.com

The article says that although SGI's machines are more powerful
today, WINTEL machines can handle most of the special effects that
could only have been done on SGI machines in the past. Even
so, SGI's animation workstation sales are expected to grow 15% through
the year 2000, although competitors will grow faster. It also mentions
that the special effects for the movie Titanic, currently under
production, will not be done by SGI. Comments?

Of course, MSNBC is jointly owned by NBC and Microsoft. Happy turkey
day, gobble gobble.
