How much would Ericsson be willing to pay for Newbridge?
Where will Newbridge be after the market finish conciliating if it's not part of any deal.

I can't answer the first, but as for the second, NN has a strong alliance with Siemens and with COMS, so its well-positioned as long as those remain in place.

After spending time at Supercomm looking at all the DWDM players, I'm extremely curious about the synergies between Ericsson and NN on that front. From what I could gather --- and I don't fully understand the different parts of the system --- Ericsson doesn't have the switches Cambrian has and Cambrian doesn't have the long-haul Ericsson has.
I'm wondering if the two entities combined could compete with Ciena or Lucent in that particular market. If so, I'm wondering if Cisco would be interested in both companies --- Ericsson and NN. (I'm sure anyone will have to take NN to get Cambrian, judging by NN's control of the company.)

Okay, these are thoughts that came to me in the night. I welcome anyone to shoot them down.

Now, the car's dirty and I've got to get busy.

Later --

Pat
