I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion of the analyst's conference call (available on RealAudio on the Oracle website).

I don't follow Oracle that closely anymore, but it seems like the news boils down to the following:

- DBMS license growth has slowed dramatically in FY98, into low double digits, with no signs of increasing
- application license revenue growth has been inconsistent in FY98, and Q4 license revenue growth was flat year to year, in a market that's been growing mid-double digits
- services revenue growth continues to be extremely robust, but the service revenue opportunity is in large part a function of previous period license sales.

As much as I like Oracle, and I do think the management is superb (Lane, Henley, Shaw) ... I can see why the Street has a hold on the stock right now.
