Jim -
I'm just amazed that you keep repeating your view, when all of the evidence that I have seen contradicts it. Industry information published on the CPQ, Intel and MSFT threads indicated that CPQ is on track to bring inventory in line by end of July. There was a policy change which set the goal at 4 weeks across the board, which was driven by the fact that some of the big channel partners have not been able to meet customer demand with lower inventory.

In order for CPQ to achieve the plan outlined, they will have to reduce shipments to the channel quarter to quarter by enough to compensate for the reduction in price protection and returns

What in the world are you talking about? What does reduction in price protection have to do with inventory levels? And you keep asserting that returns are something other than the execution of standard warranty provisions, no different than Dell or other vendors.

If they want to accomplish this by September then they have to take a revenue loss equal to one half quarter

How does this square with 4 weeks inventory at the end of June? This is pure FUD with no basis in any data that I have been able to find.

I think that your posts on these issues have gone beyond simple contrarian opinion and are actively misleading people on this thread as to the position and actions of the largest player in the market in which Dell operates.
