I don't think management is superb, sorry. Oracle lately reminds me of Apple a few years ago. Oracle had a great thing when Oracle 7 came out, it was head and shoulders above everybody else. At the same time the Apps business was doing well - there was the Sap threat but considering Sap ported a mainframe product and orcl was starting from scratch Orcl did a pretty good job, and as a more open and simpler system to Sap orcl knew who there customer was, and sales were good.

I really can't think of anything that Orcl has done since that time that propelled Oracle forward in any way. The momentum in Orcl stock since late 1995 has all been based on events that happened 5 years ago. Most customers are still running Orcl 7, the apps have been stagnant for years and the street is afraid msft is going to do to the Orcl engine what sap and psft did to the apps.

BTW Im a fan of Larry and I think all the problems with Orcl display a sort of lack of vision, which coincides with Larry leaving the day to day business functions at Orcl. Lane and Henley are just number crunchers they are not Larry replacements.
