Terrence, that is precisely the issue with which many religions (except polytheistic ones) are incapable of dealing. How is it possible to have a perfect god create imperfect objects (human beings) and then judge them on their imperfections? How is it possible to have a good prime mover (a god) create evil? How is it possible for a perfect, omniscient god to create free will?

Hellenism easily deals with these kinds of problems because we have the interplay of gods with differing motives.

It seems to me that monotheistic religions have an insurmountable problem here.
