Rich, you can't believe what ERICY says in public about which companies they want to acquire. Weeks before NT bought Bay, the Leman brothers firm intervied the CEO of NT and he said they were not interested in Bay Networks. We know that BAY had other offers from someone else. I would quess that ERICY probably tried to buy BAY. With that in mind, I would think that COMS, ASND, and CS are the most likely candidates.

COMS retail business with USR really hurts their chances. But they do have a marketing cap of about 10 billion.

ASND probably doesn't want to be bought by ERICY. I am sure that Lucent has been on the phone with them and told them privately to wait for October.

CS is the closes company left that matches BAY. But CS sure isn't acting like they are in talk with ERICY. CS is on a buying spree.

I think that FORE is a strong contender. They have the second best ATM technology behind ASND.

I wanted to buy a few of the networking companies Thursday or Friday but they all ran up in price before I pulled the trigger.

I watched the Video from the Atlanta conference and the CEO did say that he felt good about this quarters numbers. That doesn't mean that if they meet their numbers that the stock will take off.
