How the surveys were conducted:


Consumer
ICR Research, an independent research firm based in Media, PA, conducted a phone survey among 1,011 U.S. adults, among whom 655 were aware of the Year 2000 problem, between March 13 - 17, 1998. The interview was five minutes in length.



Business
Conducted over the phone, by LaJolla, CA-based, Computer Intelligence, a marketing solutions company serving the technology industry, among 75 companies that have either already completed their Year 2000 project, are currently engaged in their Year 2000 project, or are planning to initiate their Year 2000 project within the next 12 months (25 companies were represented in each segment). IS professionals who are knowledgeable about their company's handling of the Year 2000 computing issues were interviewed.
