Rude, on pricing...

June 7th, Intel cut PII prices by 12-20% and 266MHz Celeron by 32%.
They are expected to cut mainstream PII desktop prices on:

7/26 (20-30%)
9/13 (previously thought to be 5-15%, now expected to be 20-30%)
10/25 (previously thought to be 10-20%, now moved to 25-30%).

Notebook MPU prices are scheduled for reduction on 6/28 and 9/13.

Let's see... the last I heard DRAM spot was 75 cents. HDDs are still tanking big time. I can't think of any component that's going up. Can you?

Given all this, I sure as hell don't know why I'm thinking of declining ASPs. The other thing bothering me was the lower wafer starts which indicate lower unit demand. Now where did I get that? Oh yes, TSMC foundries operating at less than 70% capacity.

Oh, I took the above pricing from a Morgan Stanley report on Intel dated June 17th. It can be found at First Call.
