Mark, Re" Andy Grove's stocksales",

I'm sure he has his reasons. Maybe he wants to diversify as others have speculated (and as a lot of us might have done). Perhaps he has altruistic or other personal motives. As for his medical bills being greater than yours - Dr. Grove has been quite public about his battle with Prostate Cancer which I believe is in remission right now, so that could be a reason too.

I would not make much of their stock sales. In Silicon Valley, stock options are a major part of the compensation package. If I remember correctly, some Intel executives sold at 65 (before one split) around the timeframe of the FDIV flap. In hindsight, that was not that great an investment decision seeing that the stock has quadrupled since then. There was insider sales at 74 (this run). They must all be kicking themselves now.

I personally don't pay much heed to insider sales when I don't know the motivation involved. Insider buys are however another matter - there's only one motivation there,
