Sorry, but Borland's sudden switch to the implementation developed by Microsoft wasn't enough to save them from being thrust to the bottom of the C++ compiler barrel where the sit today. What Borland gave us was an incomplete, buggy moras; what Microsoft gave us was a clean interface to Windows from which to build higher level systems. I don't want to be mired in someone else's muck; just give me a clean interface to the underlying operating system and let me pick the tools I need from the thousands of sources that exist only because of that clean approach. BTW, your little intro is really the quintessential weak argument and you can find an almost verbatim copy of it in hundreds of irrelevant postings on every forum on every system.
