Thanks, Tharos, for the H-Q report from mid-1997. Odd that no one mentioned this before. It explains a lot. It also gives credence, I am afraid, to those who view the statistical P-2 efficacy results as too narrow and unimpressive for comfort. At bottom, this is the problem with rBPI. The molecule is "interesting", the theory is elegant, the compound is safe, but to date the results observed have been disappointingly modest -- even ambiguous. As for your follow-up post about the Oregon boy, I remember earlier versions of the same news item were careful to point out that he was not actually treated with Neuprex. BTW, the stat job at Xoma has been open for quite some time.
