I'm baaaaaaack.

Rational self interest and the underlying morality of money. You should definitely wirte Libertarian speeches LOL.
First off, money has no morality. What I mean by that is, money is neither moral or immoral. What a person does or doesnt do with their money is what holds a value of morality, and that is only from the subjective, personal point of view stemming from our own perceptions of morality.

You dont worship god(which your complete right to do or not do, as you see fit) However, you quite clearly worship or a more mundane, or material god, CASH.

The trials and tribulations of of securing money and goods and services are neither inherently good or bad. How you go about achieving your goals are the testiment to what your morality and character are. The creation of wealth is not the end all to be all. The complete lack of rules in creating wealth, dressed up in a costume and falsely called freedom is the Libertarian credo. IMO. It is the mysticism of money. IMO, Libertarianism is the religion of "I have mine, who gives a f--k if you have yours". Well, I'm sorry, i dont believe that you hae the right ot do anything you want just because you have the cash to pay for it. That is claptrap nonsense, and the battlecry of the inherently selfish.
A compete freedom in the pursuit of monetary wealth(what you call the traders philosphy) leads to huge systemic abuses of power and massive corruption. Anyone who believes otherwise is being foolish, IMO.

I have been an institutional fixed income slaesperson since I got out of school.. I have seen many people who have created GREAT wealth for themselves in the last decade. I can sincerely tell you that the ones that I have felt tht were the most selfish and least giving, the ones with the most concern for raw materialism, have been the ones that have become Libertarians. There are no poor Libertarians.

That is not to say that all Libertarins are selfish, shallow, and materialistic. I have some friends whose intellect and morality I respect very greatly, who are Libertarians. I do not even claim that my feelings are absolutely correct and everyone else must be wrong. But it is how i sincerely feel.

There is more to life than the creation of wealth, for the sake of creation of wealth. I leave it to you to find out what that is.

bleeding heart, Mark
