June 22, 1998, TechWeb News Mylex To Ship eXtremeRAID Mylex Corp. in September will begin shipping a new RAID array capable of more than 6,000 I/Os per second. The eXtremeRAID features a 233-MHz RISC processor, Ultra2 SCSI connectivity and a 64-bit PCI interface. It can handle up to 810 gigabytes of data. Mylex's Global Array Manager enables the device to be configured, maintained and monitored remotely over the Internet or corporate intranet. It also supports background initialization, which will let IT managers configure the device immediately upon activation. Pricing was not disclosed.
