Paul,

I think Intel (as well as you) should be worried sh*tless about the failure of the Celeron in the market. The retail segment doesn't want the lowest performance processor (Celeron-266 is lower performance than the Pentium MMX 233). So you better hope that the Celeron (or Mendocino) doesn't capture Pentium II marketshare.

One thing is for sure. The K6-2 3D processor and subsequent K6-3 processor will eat into Intel's marketshare. Every single PC manufacturer in the top 10 (with the exception of DELLeron) will announce a platform based on the K6-2. The retailers are demanding that PC manufacturers offer low end boxes (<$799)based on Cyrix and mid-range boxes (<$1099) based on AMD.

And since there are no problems with manufacturing, AMD's challenge now appears to be in selling everything they can build. And their momentum appears to be growing. Patience is a virtue. And PROFITS will be forthcoming.
