Boys!!! This thread must be cleansed. I did not count the posts but my guess is that there are more hostile posts by people who are stockholders than the so called naysayers.
IMO I believe that these naysayers have a place in SI. Janice, Wired, Mr. Forthright and Little Engine have posted interesting theories and information that was otherwise missed. In this respect they serve a great purpose. It is up to you and only you to dissect the information and determine what is pertinent. After you do this then you can feel comfortable with your decision to loosen up your purse strings and buy a few shares. I for one would rather gather as much information as is available than rely on one or two peoples DD. This is why in all the threads, responsible people remind others to not rely on the word of others, that the information is available on the thread but that it is imperative that you do your own DD. You might catch something than another missed, I know I have, hence the real purpose we convene here in the SI world. And yes there have been times that Janice has led me down a darkened path of "information" that led me to a dead end, but again I'd rather have the information and decide what importance it plays in the scheme of things. I do not mind the "naysayers" posting information but I do not like the constant questioning of the same thing, especially if they have been answered and given the proper direction to find the information. Make your point and get on with it. Nobody is here it hold anybody else's hand.
I also agree with the WSJ reporter who said that Janice and the others are very intelligent people. This is clearly evident in their postings. One cannot help but notice the flare for writing, manipulation of data/facts and mastery of the english language. I have no problem in acknowledging this to them. I would prefer that they were more helpful and not so negative, but then I want a lot of things. I tend to believe that this is their job, that they do not give of their time "freely" just to harass a bunch of people they could care less about. Nor do I believe that they derive any great pleasure in learning of an individuals misfortune, for the majority of us, but then again I tend to be naive. If it is nothing more than a game to them, I would tend to think that it would be short lived and they would tire of the constant haranging and would get on with their own lives.
Personally I think they have made better investors of many of us, whether we want to admit it or not.
So lets clean up the thread and get back to business as usual. And please if you're going to come on this thread and try to scare the shares out of our hands, then do so more cunningly. |
