It could be worthwhile to distinguish trading and investing. << if you think SEA will not recover for 10 or 20 years >> SEA may recover, but: (i) some countries may not, (ii) they can repudiate foreign holdings before they recover, (iii) particular fund you buy may have the bad luck to get heavily invested into Cos. that will go bankrupt (old shares are worthless, even though Co. restructures and recovers). etc.
