Sorry, had to leave, I will finish. The dollars are when you sell 50,100, 500, Etc. user systems. Arthur used the example of the FBI. Think how many police depts. etc, have access to those systems. Govt. and all their computers are a huge target, and after you get one lookout. We tend to over look or not think about the huge number of information networks in communications and information. The net itself is an example. For it to become of greater value searches must be much more detailed. Who needs a query with 104,586 hits.
The whole point of data mining is that volumes of info are worthless.Yet without those tons of information you have nothing also. It is by developing tools that the intelligent user can use to get valuable information that is the next step. In the same way that the PC brought computing to the people, so will data mining bring useful information to them. If you want to dream, hope that the Sand software becomes widely used and to access it you had to get this soft ware for $29.95 or something. My oh my!!
