Brief: Takeover speculation is the topic of the day.

PairGain (PAIR) and Adtran (ADTN) topped Friday's list of takeover targets, with Ericsson the rumored suitor... PAIR rose 12%, while ADTN added 9.3%... Both are miles from their 52-wk highs and are seen as relative bargains... Briefing has noted for months that PAIR is a likely takeover target... Would expect deal for company to be in the low- to mid-20s... ADTN CFO denied rumors.
