Addi, lets go to hell, but bring a coat because it's cool. The bible hell is just the grave. I worked in a cemetery and graves are 4 feet deep, 50 degrees. So I went to Hell on a daily basis.
The Hebrew word Sheol, 65 times in the old testament, isn't translated in newer versions; they just call it Sheol. The King James used 3 English words for Sheol: manufacturing the doctrine of eternal torment and scaring hell and money out of their parishioners.
HELL 31 times GRAVE 31 times PIT 3 times
"The wicked shall be turned into Hell" (Sheol) Psalm 9:17 "Out of the belly of Hell cried I" (Sheol) Jonah 2:2 "Hide me in the Grave" (Sheol) Job 14:13 "I will go down into the Grave to my son" (Sheol) Genesis 37:35
HELL IS THE GRAVE. The Old Testament, Hebrew Scriptures, are 75% of the Bible. Never do they speak of eternal torment. In the New Testament the KJV boys made it worse. They translated three Greek terms as Hell:
Hades 10 times (exact equivalent of Sheol = the grave) Gehenna 11 times (Valley of Hinnom, city dump for Jerusalem) Tartarus 1 time (condition of restraint for fallen angels)
They teach that the Lake of Fire is Hell. This term occurs 5 times in Revelation and is explained as "The second death" Six things are thrown into it: Devil, Death, Hell, Wild Beast, False Prophet, Wicked humans. Since you can't torture Death or Hell it can't be a place of torment. It represents annihilation.
Other scriptures describe the fate of the wicked: "They shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake." Jeremiah 51:39, 57 "They shall be as tho they had not been" Obadiah 16 "The wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23
About 2 years ago the Church of England completely renounced their doctrine of Hell. About time! |
