ASND/CSCO merger may seem unlikely but I am sure they have talked.

First, CSCO could be interested in ASND both offensively and defensively. Despite some overlap, ASND would clearly make CSCO even more compelling in the network arena. This would increase CSCO offensive position. Perhaps more important, if CSCO does not buy ASND then someone else will (such as LU) and threaten the whole house of cards. Also, if the price is right I am sure the ASND folks will sell out and join the enemy.

IN this fast paced area it is a mistake to rule out possibilities that seem viable.
