Dwight: I am not an employee, officer, or director of Novell; only a shareholder. And as a shareholder I do not have the right to hire or fire any employee of Novell, regardless of their position (junior or senior). As a shareholder I do have voting rights and the right to share in the profits of the corporation through cash or stock dividends. There is also the opportunity to gain or loose money from the purchase or sale of my Novell stock. The stock hopefully will have a value, as perceived by the investment community, that is higher than the liquidated value of the corporation. And yes, hopefully more than I paid for it.

As a shareholder, I do not have any say in the day-to-day management of the corporation -- only the right to vote on the issues put before the shareholders by the Board of Directors. Therefore, as regards to outranking the highest senior employee, well, that's an apples and oranges comparison in my opinion.

I certainly agree with you that the purchases which support and increase the stock price gives Novell the ability to obtain additional financing.

Regards,

Elmo
