Glad I didn't send you off to fire Marengi by accident.

What I am saying is that shareholders as a group own the company, and the right to hire and fire. This includes the board of directors, and through the board, the most senior employee. However, in practice that happens only occasionally.

Certainly someone who owns 500 shares (example) of a company with 365 miilion outstanding probably wouldn't want to try to fire the President or Chairman. Nor would they evict tenants in a building that their brother purchased for $200,000 after being asked to loan him $150 bucks to swing the deal.

My example was only to describe the ownership issue in the most basic way, to show the rights of the employee vs. the owner. This argument is the one usually not understood by unions.

Hope this clears up the issue, because it's pretty boring.
