Darleen & John: Fine art a/w/a collectibles=suitable goldbug diversification.

I have experienced a specific instance of Japanese collectors in my particular collectible market, a collectible on which I'm considered by some to be an expert: worldaccessnet.com

As such, in an attempt to protect their Yen denominated assets, Jas. collectors have pushed the purchase price of these collectibles in both private treaty sales a/w/a major auctions by 4 fold. Talk about inflation: A doll selling for $1.50 in 1913-1917 now brings $4,000 to $7,000 each, and in some cases, up to $40,000 per piece, a staggering increase for the American collector.

This particular collectible DOES have a tie to Japan's pre WWI past, I'll grant you. But the recent buying binge is not entirely tied to their love affair with 1913-1917 bisque dolls that had formerly been made once upon a time in their fair land.

Funny how money is protected, eh?
