I have a friend who was considering a career move 2 years ago. His current job paid the bills, but he didn't feel like he was being treated fairly -- all the same he was excited about the ministry that he was involved in outside of work. He heard about an opening in the town I live in and applied. He was offered a position, but had trouble making up his mind -- he went to his current employer and they "upped" the ante so-to-speak by agreeing to give him 5 or 10% more than the offer which was made. He phone the folks who made him the offer and turned them down, but all the while he had this "nagging feeling" that it wasn't right. He had been in prayer and had asked a lot of other folks to pray with him. Finally, a few days later he said to himself, 'If this really was where God wanted him to go and he made the wrong decision turning the job down -- the job would still be available.' He called them back after a week had elapsed. The job was still available and my friend took the job. I am certainly benefiting from his being closer.

However, he has been frustrated at the new (to him when he started) congregation where he worships -- but I am convinced that he is having what you could call a leavening effect and that this is from God.
