PRIVATE 3-D TECH CO SEEKING CAPITAL, ADVICE
Holoverse Inc < holoverse.com > ., a Cambridge, Mass.-based technology company that makes three-dimensional images for use in theaters and television, is planning an initial public offering of up to $ 25 million and is seeking advice on how to do it. Dennis Solomon, ceo, says the company has not selected underwriters and is interested in finding out more about how to begin the IPO process, which it hopes to complete in the next 18 months. He recently posted a message on an IPO Web site explaining that his company is looking for advice on "moving into the IPO stage."
Holoverse has received $ 12 million through U.S. Department of Defense grants and a few private investors and is in the process of raising $ 1 million in a private placement the company is handling on its own. Holoverse was founded in 1997 by a group of scientists and professors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology looking to find commercial applications for 3-D visual-imaging systems developed for use in the U.S. defense program.
