I think the market is moving in this direction however.

IBM has already announced that it will allow integration of DRAM and logic. Major Fabs like TSMC are also pushing in this direction.

If you look out 5 years when 0.1 Micron I think embedded DRAM will be compelling. You are correct that you compromise on the logic performance.

However the compromise may still enable a 500Mhz Pentium type of performance in an embedded product, while an optimized high performance process may yield 1Ghz.

For lots of mobile apps, a 200Mhz let alone 500Mhz appliance will be acceptable. By the way I suspect, Intels push will be with StrongARM as opposed to integrating Pentium architecture with DRAM.
