Whoever can get to market first with a non or nearly non-invasive system that is as accurate as todays technology will have a huge opportunity with parents of diabetic children

But today's technology is not very accurate.

How about a subcutaneous glucose sensor that can be injected into place with an ordinary syringe, which is powered and read by a PalmPilot or watch-sized device - that can resolve hundreds of parts per billion within a second?

Sensors for Medicine and Science, Inc. says they've developed (or are developing) a prototype device that does just that. When they come to market, I think any company producing any kind of device that relies on infrared reflectance (near or far) will be hard pressed to keep up their market share.
