To R.E.B. and all: Shorting and accounting question on stock buy back. When a company buys back stock it goes into what is called the companies treasury stock I think. Now is this stock still part of the shares outstanding?
I would hope these shares and shares held by Leah officers are unavailable to the market makers so they can short more shares.
R.E.B. From your homework can market makers short a stock naked and can they hold naked shorts forever? If you find a good reference on how market makers work let me know.
Tom
