Sorry about the tables - key result is 13.6 metres (44.6 feet) of copper grading 3.07% including 5 metres (17.3 feet) grading 7% copper. vertical depth of copper is nearly 900 feet and step out hole has hit zone! ÿ June 22, 1998
Mutapa Gold Corporation ("Mutapa") is pleased to announce that the fourth drill-hole in the Little Deer Project, Springdale, Newfoundland (LD98-05) has returned significant assay results as follows:

The first four holes in the Little Deer drilling project have now yielded high-grade copper values (1.96-3.07%)over significant intervals [5.4 m (17.3') to 13.6 m (44.6')] within a mineralized altered zone tested through a vertical depth of 271m (885'). The zone consists of bands of massive and semi-massive sulphide, mineralized stringers and chlorite alteration. It is open to depth and above hole 67-135. See news releases of May 21, 25, 28 and June 1, 9.
Even though down-hole geophysics (PEM) confirms the down-dip continuity of the massive sulphide, it was decided to drill-test the on-strike continuity to the west where PEM gave a similar strong response. DDH98-05 was therefore drilled 64m to the west. This hole has been completed after passing through the zone and samples have been submitted for assay.
A PEM survey of DDH98-05 has given positive results for continuation of the massive sulphides to depth and along strike to both west and east. The Company's consulting geophysicist Cliff Candy, P.Geo states "The data shows the presence of a strong intersected conductor at a depth of 430 metres. The electromagnetic response seen in this data is very similar to that of drillhole 98-02, which was also collared with a 65 degree dip. As a consequence, this zone is interpreted to be a westerly extension of the mineralization tested in the 98-01 to 98-04 suite of drillholes. Also, analogous to 98-02, drillhole 98-05 has similar potential for off hole extension."
DDH98-06 has therefore been commenced at the same location as DDH98-05 but at a steeper angle to test the down-dip continuation of the mineralization.
Split-core is analyzed by Eastern Analytical Ltd., Springdale, Newfoundland, with check analyses carried out by Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd., Vancouver.
A sketch showing holes 67-135 and 98-1 to 4 is included with this news release.
