David, just had one of those twilight zone feelings reading your post. Literally five minutes before I read your post I was doing some research on "death threats" on the internet (long story), and I had bookmarked the following:

I agree with the courts that venues such as SI should not be held liable for things people write here, but I'm wondering where the line is drawn for liability on the part of us, the members.

For example, clearly, writing an electronic death threat is as criminal as sending one in the mail, but what about fabricating documents for the sake of maligning someone? One of these days it would be interesting to have a cyber law expert explain all these things.

Funny thing is, most of the case law doesn't yet exist. Which means you and I and the rest of the SI membership might be writing history. ;^)
