Dell's choice to enter the the cheap retail market will be based on their perception of sustained profitability. Thus far they have consistently indicated that they do not believe it exists. That's what the Unix guys said about Wintel and now they are all getting on line to kiss butt! The fact is that you have NO IDEA how much money CPQ is or isn't making on sub-1k. You are doing nothing more than textbook speculation and trying to make it sound authoritative. Oh, I don't know what MD said about this today, but in recent weeks he has been showing more than a casual interest in small business & consumer markets.
