Japan's delinquent debt, just this, is the size of the Chinese economy. At that 100% of the Chinese government banks are broke. Where is this country going? Nowhere. It is in the Chinese works to engineer a suuccessive wave of "competitive devaluations" which will in the end bankrupt the society of "entrepreneurs" China has just built up.
For a generation I have head Napolean's words echo round my brain, "When China awakes...the world will tremble." It is actually a stupid comment because when Napolen made the comment China was arguably, under the Chien-lung Emperor, alrady the most powerful country in the world. Yes. That's true.
You are all mesmerized by a command economy taking the profit margins out of selling commercial products. Has this been success? This has led everyone else in Asia into the abyss why not China?
Where are the 300,000 government owned companies in terms of making any money? At that where is the body of law in China relating to commerce, or remediation of commercial disputes or even privage property? Do such laws exist...tell me??? Has Bejing jeep which has been in country for fifteen years ever made any money that it can repatriate.
The Chinese are greedy foolish people with scant respect for the west or their neighbors;do they respect what we know of as an elected "democracy" or do theuy believe in individual commercial freedoms? YOU say, "Hey this is a command econlmy. We don't believe in it but were going to make lots of money from this." Bullshit. You just gave away the store and anyway command economies are false fronts like those old western movie sets with no building behind the fascades.

Yes, by attempting to bankrupt it's neighbors...but they will crack like Russia...this before Japan cracks. My bet is on the Koreans and the Japanese.
At that I am in a small way a historian of China and think that China must get out of the control of the Chinese army, which in the end has chosen to be no different than any other Chinese army in it's history.
