Since the Street Talk Cafe is about 3 miles from where I work, I stopped by to check it out. I went in the afternoon after the
lunch crowd, so it wasn't extremely busy. First impressions were good.

First of all they are located 100 yards south of a very busy intersection at the south end of the "Telecom Corridor" in Richardson.
I consider this an excellent location.

I was met at the door by the hostess, who was cleaning the glass on the doors. The manager wasn't there so I just talked with her. The cafe is setup with different themes for each group of tables. There are street signs indicating what theme you are in. There was a sports bar room, general store, antique mall, wallstreet, outdoor cafe (complete with misters to keep you cool in the summer and heaters to keep you warm in the winter), and a few more I can't remember. Several of the rooms have televisions. For instance, the wallstreet room had richly textured tables and chairs, with a television and newsstand complete with financial magazines and newspapers. Each room or section is decorated according to its theme. And there is lots of greenery around.

They have a max capacity of 185 people. They also have a takeout window for walk-in orders or call-in pickup orders. During lunch they are very busy, but the wait time typically doesn't get more than 10 minutes. They do about equal business lunch versus dinner. Dinner has longer hours, so I would surmise that lunch is more packed than the dinner crowd. They get lots of repeat customers during lunch and dinner.

The menu is just plain AWESOME. Color coded according to food category. Almost like garanimal ordering, but definitely in a well-laid out professional menu. And the menu is loaded. The average meal for lunch or dinner is around $7.50 per person. I did not have time to eat, though looked at a few plates as I walked by. Thumbs up.

Business was incredible during the first month, slowed down just a little for the first week of June probably due to vacations, and has picked right back up.

Everyone was friendly. Most of the servers were younger, the hostess was mid-thirties and very respectable and friendly.

All in all, a respectable restaurant with a neat twist due to the theme rooms. Reasonable prices, great location, and good food (from what I hear) will keep the clientele coming back for more.

If you have anything specific that you would like me to check on or ask, feel free to post or PM. I'll see what I can do.

Good luck to all,
Tod
