Gregor,

I very much like your story.

The Trinity is, from what I can figure, is not a Jewish concept... so any reference to it in the Old Testament is highly suspect as "made to fit" - creative interpretation, IMHO.

I don't think Jesus' repetition (e.g., Matt. 27:46) is to both the Father and the Holy Spirit. I think, however, that it is a clear reference to Psalm 22.

An interesting point about the storm before the calm. Are tough times... the troubled waters... a necessary part of becoming stronger. A good case is marriage. It seems that partners in a marriage inevitably go through a tough period. If they manage through it, they seem stronger for it. The question is: are tough times really needed... are they just the "natural" way of things... are they really inevitable? As a sideline, soapbox comment... I'd say the break-up of the family in America is due to the laziness of people not to tough out the bad times. Of course, this subject alone could fan out quickly into an entire discussion in and of itself... but... let's just stick with the Trinity for now.

What intrigues me about the Trinity is how and why the concept came into being and how Christians understand and operate with this (as your initial story showed) extraordinarily difficult concept. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

By the way... wild speculation is always appreciated and encouraged; especially, when it is labeled as such. :-)

Greg
