Dale J, IMO xDSL is pretty much dead with a bleak future, based on a lot of technical factors already mentioned on this thread (copper wires can't be too old OR too new, you have to be close to the CO, etc.) and economic ones (don't expect phone Cos. to invest too heavily on improving this technology with deregulation costs, etc.) I'm betting on cable modems as being the infrastructure of choice for the next 3 years, and then satellite after that. made on killing on @Home so far...

Joey,

Thanks for the info. I guess DSL Lite can use standard copper wires so that might be viable, although it will be still too slow for video news clips, etc. But I agree the phone Cos. have been loath to invest Billions in ADSL when they know they may lose out to Cable or wireless alternative. That is why it seems there has been more talk than action on ADSL.

I wish I had joined you in @Home. After the IPO I thought it ran up to quickly so I didn't get in on it. I remember Rambus was set at 12 or so for the IPO, it opened at 16 or so and ran up to 22 or so the first day. I thought it was too late for that one also. Some of these IPO's can be incredible. Dale
