It seems to me that Warren basically picked up 80,000 (approx)
of assets that he can now invest however he sees fit.
The float of General RE just adds to the other cash that he has
to invest. Hence he exchanged BRK shares for additional cash to
invest - and yet he paid essentially $0 (i.e. brk.x pieces of paper).
Or as on friend of mine said - basically and infinite loan
at 0% interest.

Is this right - or am I looking at it wrong?

If it is right, shouldn't the brk.x (i.e. .a and .b) go up as
a result - not down like yesterday.

Thanks;
Carl
