Magic Entertainment, Inc. Announces Start of Pre-Production On 'Speedway Junky'
NEW YORK (June 23) ENTERTAINMENT WIRE -June 23, 1998--Magic ;Entertainment, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of 1st Miracle Group, Inc. (OTC BB: MVEE), today announced that it has started pre-production on its film, "Speedway Junky," starring Darryl Hannah, Jesse Bradford, Balthazar Getty and Patsy Kensit. Filming is set begin on July 13, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California.
"Speedway Junky" is the story of 17 year old boy who dreams of becoming a race car driver and winning the Indianapolis 500. But how does a young boy of this age achieve such a dream with only $160 in his pocket. Las Vegas holds the answer. He hitchhikes to the gambling town only to be thrown out of every casino because of his age. After being robbed of his money by a young woman, he begins spending his nights on the street with other desperate kids. He meets a woman with whom he loses his virginity, who then adopts him and starts to turn his life around and helps him to achieve his dream. A love story develops between this 30 year old woman (Hannah) and 17 year old boy (Bradford). "Speedway Junky" is a film for today's youth, full of charm and erotic drama. A forbidden love story which we all dreamed of against the backdrop of the decadence and despair, wealth and success of Las Vegas. The film culminates in a deadly and exciting car race.
The film, a Golan Globus Production, is being executive produced by Gus Van Sant, Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus co-executive producers. The Nickolas Perry film will be produced by Randell Emmett, Rodney Omanoff and George Furla. Commenting on the announcement, Menahem Golan, co-chairman of Magic Entertainment said, "We are very excited about this project and the people associated with it. In addition to a great cast, we are honored to be working with Gus Van Sant, the executive producer of the film. Gus was nominated for an academy award as director of the film, "Good Will Hunting." We anticipate the film will have its world premier in January 1999 at The Sundance Film Festival."
