I should really answer who knows.I have been told ( no guarantee however) that after a 5 year period of disclosure of the offense that Clines went to Allentown over, it no longer requires any disclosure. I do not vouch for this input. Isn't analog over 1000 feet still cheaper than digital. I'll give a qualified answer. Yes for only that distance. More pertinent is the switching capability. Sixteen or 14 ports does not give much conferencing capability.For a major brokerage house for example or a major bank or similar business even l000 port switches might be required. Will Sexi have this capability - not at present that I can determine With all of the independent counsel activity in D.C. I would think that the new Chief of Staff might well have a fit. But remember,Who ever placed the White House order with SEXI could have given such a task to any one of a number of contractors who hold task type contracts with the whitehouse,with the White House Communications Agency and simply have directed Company XYZ to but the following equipment from SEXI and get it installed. This would certainly limit the exposure of SEXI in this situation. On the other hand it could be possible that this was cleared at the policy level in the White House. I am not in a position to say one way northe other.Sorry. If I stumble across an ex[plicit answer I'll post it. A key point to keep reminding ones self about. The cost of hardware and software is a one time charge. The transmission costs are the real problem.Perhaps if a Senator or Congressman would have to pay the transmission costs for his use out of his office budget it might make a difference for a year ot two. Once they recognize what this expense might do to their budgets they would find a way to hide this item somewhere. Perhaps saddleing the Defense Communications Agency with this load. The DISA would then simply bill the White House and or Congress without any specific user identified and thereby refresh their industrial fund. Got it-The Govenment will do what it wishes I have yet to learn the specific application of the Sexi set up in the White House .Just today I saw an announcement by Picture Tel who announced an alliance with a software house who will provide ATM boards to be used with the Picture Tel video equipments. For desk top each PC will get an ATM interface board installed .With this and connection via a switch to any long distance carriers ATM service 30 frames per second over long distances become feasable. But at What cost for this service on a multipoint basis. I hope I am not adding to your confusion. Key-will SEXI put out a news release on the White House Award???
