McAlex, the Golden Arches of hummingbirds, Poor little guy! Can you imagine what a rude shock that was? He probably saw what looked to him like a veritable fountain of liquid honey! The Hummingbird Promised Land! He approaches, half expecting to see the amber rainbow shimmer and disappear, a mirage in the afternoon sunlight. But no, it remains before him, tantalizing him with its heady sparkle. CLoser, closer, he dips his little beak into the warm stream, expecting to sip sweet nectar, only to find his dream choked off by a nasty acidic influx of..... I weep for his disillusionment. A perfect metaphor for our lives.
